Grace Bible ChurchHaving run another evangelism course for ten years and seen only two people turn to Christ, Grace Bible Church at Holland Park, Queensland, turned to Introducing God for a different approach.

Pastor Dave D'Amour sums up his reaction to seven people becoming Christians after Grace Bible Church ran several Introducing God course: “Wow”.

“Two or three people came to Christ during the course at the table, one or two a month or so later,” said D'Amour. “Another guy a couple of months later. [With] Introducing God we’ve seen more fruit, which is very encouraging and enjoyable.”

Pastor D'Amour likes the theology and conversational style of Introducing God, and encourages group leaders to ask questions instead of trying to provide all the answers. “As time goes on we’ll answer... [but] let the guest answer questions. Don’t dominate and don’t be dogmatic.”

Finding Introducing God refreshing in its ability “to connect with people who are really seeking”, Pastor Dave D'Amour and Grace Bible Church made several important decisions about how best to serve the needs of its local community and “be Christ” to guests.

Due to late night shopping on Thursday, and uni students having to submit papers on Friday, Grace Bible Church moved Introducing God from Thursday to Tuesday nights, which allowed more participants to attend.

The shared meals were served in the church or Pastor Dave’s house, and special attention was payed to not making the cost of food prohibitive to guests. “People have been amazed that other people were providing the meals,” said David. “Some people that have come to Christ have testified that God is worth knowing, because they’ve seen the hospitality.”Introducing God banner

Pastor Dave has also “tweaked” some of the Introducing God discussion questions, and realised word-of-mouth invites and a banner outside the church have proved more effective than a letterbox drop of promotional leaflets.

“Great course,” Pastor Dave D'Amour succinctly says about Introducing God and its impact in his area. “We thank God for you ministry.”
