Our Film Festival is a very 'first date' night. A night where people can come in the door of our building, feel safe and have a fun time. We will show a promo video for our Introducing God course and Matt and Ben who will host the evening are film fans.
An aim for the evening is 'make a little ground.'
Update: We debriefed on the evening this morning. One man who
brought his wife who isn't Christian (and four friends) thought that the
night was exactly right. We had made a little ground. Another team
member who had toyed with taking their guest to the climate change
night (which was on at the same time) was disappointed that we didn't
push enough.
I think the consensus was that we were true to the advertising. It was
a film festival, in a church. Six of the eight films would have been
shown at any film festival. Two were specifically Christian - although
of similar quality. The MC and guest were well chosen (one writes film
reviews for a living, the other wrote one of the short films that we
showed, both are members of our church).

Finally, one of the Inner West's most creative and artistic communities gets what it deserves – its own film festival.
The inaugural Annandale Community Short Film Festival is bringing the best of burgeoning Australian screen talent to the Inner West. To be held at the Annadale Community Church, Johnson St, from 7.30pm on Thursday, September 13, 2007, the Short Film Festival features a handpicked selection of acclaimed and award-winning mini movies. Notable shorts include Tropfest best picture winner Carmichael and Shane, Nash Edgerton's Lucky and Love Thy Neighbour, a top prize-winner at the Ignite film festival.
One timely and possibly controversial choice is Garbage Man, the infamous Chaser team's short comedy about a cardboard George Bush stalking a young woman.
With the event to be hosted by Empire magazine's Ben McEachen (who was also on the festival's selection panel), the Annandale Community Short Film Festival will be an amazing local screen event. Entry is free, all cinematic refreshments will be on offer, the church will be converted into a contemporary cinema, and there will be opportunities for you, your friends and those you are seated next to to discuss the great, interesting and hilarious works you've just watched.
The film festival is part of the Start the Ultimate Relationship outreach by the Annandale Community Church. What better way to start an ultimate relationship than with an intimate, entertaining night of films, fun and friends?
